At AmCham’s third Digitizing Czechia event, Deputy Prime Minister Ivan Bartoš reported on the government’s progress toward digitization, and listed his priorities heading into the final year of this governing coalition. Mondelēz promotes innovation, invests $58MM in Opava

Mondelēz International, Inc. (NASDAQ: MDLZ), the creator of iconic household brands such as Oreo cookies and Milka chocolate, has announced a new investment of $58MM to expand production of innovative chocolate-covered wafers at its factory in Opava, Czechia. The ambitious investment schedule will commence immediately, the investment will create about 100 new jobs, and it will allow the company to expand production of chocolate covered round wafers to reach the capacity of 22,000 tons a year.

A new public underground P+R car park has been opened in Prague’s Roztyly district, right next to the metro station of the same name

The recently completed Roztyly Plaza office building opened an underground P+R (Park and Ride) car park with a capacity of 100 parking spaces. It offers the general public covered car parking on the first underground level of the building directly on the metro line C “Roztyly”. Drivers can conveniently park their cars here every day for a flat rate of CZK 50.

New European rules for artificial intelligence

This March, MEPs approved new rules for artificial intelligence (AI), the so-called Artificial Intelligence Act. This was presented by the European Commission in April 2021. It is the world's first comprehensive AI legislation. The Act aims to improve the functioning of the internal market by setting a single legal framework for the development, launch and use of AI. The AI Act also seeks to reduce the administrative and financial burden on businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises.
